Stop Motion Table Build Tutorial

How to build you very own Stop motion animation table

Hey everyone. Need to build a stop motion table? In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to make your very own stop motion portable table for your stop motion projects using only 2 materials. That way it is transportable so the set design team can work on it on their own and it can be brought into your animation studio.

There are many ways to do it, this is just our quickest solution.

For the table surface, I usually go with some kind of Masonite or plywood. Something quarter inch thick just so we can drill our holes in for the feet. Some 2 x 4 around the frame and just 2 x 4 legs. You want it at least, 5 or 6 inches under the set, so you can reach underneath for tie downs or magnets.

Measure out your table surface first and then cut the wood frame to fit.

We're always trying to reuse as much material as we can for future projects so keep those scraps, you never know when they might come in handy.

I use one inch screws to hold the table surface down and avoid using staples because they just come right off.

Next up we're gonna put some legs on. You can keep them real simple, some of the scrap 2 x 4's should work. These legs are about 7 1/2 inches, but you can make it whatever height you want. I like to pre-drill my holes, it just makes installing them that much easier.

And that's it! Comment below if you found this useful!
